See the Only Rainforest in the U.S. and its Territories - El Yunque
Puerto Rico is the island of enchantment with a tropical climate, luxurious beaches, and a population that converses and writes mainly in Spanish. Student travel groups studying environmental preservation in the U.S. will want to take a long look at Puerto Rico. Since it is a U.S. Territory, no passports are required for a visit - and U.S. currency is honored.
How can it be that the only rainforest in the United States and its territories is in Puerto Rico? Students of the sciences such as biology and marine science will be excited when they enter El Yunque, a rainforest that is also a protected wilderness area not far from the sea. Student tour groups will also explore La Parguera, a fishing village in Western Puerto Rico where they will board a glass bottom boat, snorkel and spend the day outdoors. In this Puerto Rican fishing village students will observe some of the local marine life, and partake of island cuisine and culture when they return back to land for a taste of some freshly cooked seafood.
ETC professionals provide a bilingual tour guide, fluent in English and Spanish. This tour guide’s job is to orient trip leaders and student groups. At ETC, our goal is for everyone on the class trip to have a true taste of native Puerto Rican cuisine, including outdoor and indoor public spaces and markets, typical snack foods, outdoor activities, culture, dancing and so much more.
